The Lotus Eaters is a group exhibition, curated by Aindrea Emelife, exploring consumption, commodity, thrill and pleasure seeking using the tale of the Lotus Eaters in Homer’s Odyssey, JG Ballard’s High Rise and the Freudian Pleasure Principle as literary and philosophical curatorial access points.
Fast food, fast fashion; people and services at your door at the click of an app: are we, like The Lotus Eaters of Homerian myth, lost in a world of consumption, victims to addictive highs?
The Lotus Eaters, showcasing seven artists whose work responds to these ideas through painting, assemblage, animation and installation.
